Trout fishing

i see youre from michigan ... whats an out of state lisence cost? Will be living in wisconsin for the summer very close to the border of the pennisula ... so ill either do my fishing in WI or MI depending on lisence cost.

$34 for a restricted license (no trout or salmon), $42 for all species.

Where at in WI are you going to live? I'm 15 miles east of Hurley.

I'd try a fly rod but it's pretty tight where I was, had to sidearm half the time with my regular rod to keep it out of the trees. Looked like the water gets deep pretty quick also for wading in and fly fishing.

I need a smaller boat for this kind of stuff....

I may have to go get a light action rod to use here, my 7' Medium St. Croix that I use for bass fishing was too stiff to cast light spinners (wouldn't have been much of a fight either, not very fun using heavier equipment than needed).
i like a small rod for trout fishing in streams, you can experiment with flies on your regular pole and let them downstream instead of the fancy casting.just try and side arm it out there a bit with the extra line in one hand and drift it past the back sides of rocks etc where they rest.theres a lot of this type of fishing in oregon,i always thought it was fun.mornings and evenings when you see the fish jumping and bugs flying and landing on the water are the best times for dry flies.i've had luck and fun buying a fly tying kit and trying to copy the larva and bugs in the stream too.
if you troll for lake trout you can let out flies behind you also

You guys should see what my brother caught last year.
Ever heard of a Palomino Trout?

And we only pay around $10 for a fishing license here, or if you get a Sportsman's license its included with your hunting tags. Just a bit more pricey.

It's pretty close, I go down that way a lot. I haven't fished the lakes down there (lots of people on them usually), but there's a really good Musky shop on the south end of Minocqua, and my taxidermist is in Hazelhurst (south of Minocqua).

I was going to buy a 5'6" light action rod today, nothing for being too serious with, just a kinda cheap one. So I started pricing everything out, $40 for a rod, $30 for a reel, then line, some lures, stuff like that. Came out to around a hundred bucks for something I'll barely use. I'll have to find something different to do until I start getting paychecks (start my new job Monday).

And Walleye season opens in less than a week, so I won't be trout fishing much anyways.

apparently minoqua was rated in field and stream as one of the best places to fish ... so it doesnt suprise me that those lakes are busy

Palimino? I wanna see that.
