Trouble Installing a Radio in a 94 Ranger, please help

Hello,
I am in the process of upgrading the sounds system in my truck and have came across some problems. I no longer have sound.
I installed Polk audio speakers in the doors and rear no problem. Then came the head unit, this is where my problem lies. I know the speakers are hooked up correctly because they work off the old factory head unit. Now I also found out my truck has a factory amp.
I used a scosche wire harness the, FDK106, and wired it properly according to the instruction of to the new Sony head unit I bought.
After wiring it correctly I found I had no sound. Now I was wondering can I open up the “blue cable” the one that contains the cables that went into the old head unit and match up the correct polarities.
After much research I found the exact wire diagram of the amp
“Blue cable” output of original head unit and input to amp
Purple/White Stripe RR (+)
Light Blue RR (-)
White/Red Stripe RF (+)
Brown RF (-)
Light Blue/Black LR (+)
Yellow LR (-)
Light Green LF (+)
White/Orange Stripe LF (-)

Main Harness (output of amp to speakers)

Will splicing according to polarity work? Or is there another set of speaker wires I can use?

Did you hook up the remote wire so that the amp will turn on? I'm gonna guess that you did not.

But in reality, you would be better off bypassing the factory amp. Your new HU puts out more power and cleaner audio.

Yes you can simply wire everything together and it will work. But lets do it right. Go ahead and run speaker wires to the amp output plug and wire into your speakers back there. One other thing, in many (not all) 93 and 94 Rangers, amps was a second thought. Look carefully behind the radio, the factory speaker plug might be there. It will be plugged into and amp harness, this is true for most but not all 93 and 94 Rangers.

You can make it even easier. Order a metra plug 70-5605. This plug will plug into the output plug of the amp and have enough wire to get to the back of your radio. This way you don't make you truck look like an ametuer hack job.

Oh well, I went ahead and installed the head unit and new speakers. I decided to run my own wire and forget the complications I was having. Sounds great now, and I ran 16 gauge wires. I'm a happy camper now.
