trip to kansas

If you want some more interesting scenery (or maybe try it for the return trip) you might look at taking I-15 all the way to I-70 instead of I-40, that'll take you through some beautiful parts of Utah and Colorado (and Vegas!). According to google maps it's a couple hundred miles further but is estimated at about the same driving time.
Agreed, and not to mention, interstates in Colorado are 75mph, at least 70 west is to Limon.

I will certainly look into I-70 on the return trip, I would like to see colorado might be nice. I think the biggest thing for this trip is to get out of california for a few days.
If you do, plan on taking a left off of 70 at Limon and head towards Colorado Springs, just west of CS is a town called Woodland Park, it's like in the shadow of Pikes Peak, very nice little town, some tourist trap stuff to do and see and an Easy jaunt back to 25 north to 70 in Denver.

Unbelievable country there!

We may have met! I'm a member of the "Arkansas Patriot Guard Riders".

dont think anybody's mentioned it yet, but much of I-40 west of Oklahoma City runs alongside historic route 66. You might be able to hit up some cool old diners and stuff along the way if that sort of thing interests you.

Oh that's right, the is some historic places on 66. My trip date has been pushed to the 12th but I am still looking good places to see. I am buying a road atlas to map my highways nd mark my way points. Even though I did not care for history much in school I love it now.

Route 66 runs right through upland which is where I live, a couple of places I have always wanted to go and will someday. Chicago, philly (yum cheese steak ) and new york.

But pratt is my first solo trip and I will see how it does.

Thanks all for your responses, greatly appreciated. My responses will be getting better my internet is coming back on in a few days I will be making a list of way points soon.

Kansas trip canceled.. Nevada trip in a few weeks though. I will be taking my ranger and seeking out dirt roads :icon_hornsup: .. Maybe some mud.. 2 wheel drive ranger maybe
