Tricky gas station

over here they all have the same filler nozzle, so its common that people puts diesel on gasoline cars, hell even the attendants when being new make that mess:annoyed:

Around my neck of the woods usually the handle is green for diesel and black for gas.

ya'll realize the gas all pretty much comes from the same place right? my last job included ordering fuel for an entire university (7000 gallons of 87 reg, and 2000 gal of on-road diesel at a time).

i had 5 choices of companies for fuel. i had to get bids from 3, and choose the winning bid and facilitate delivery. at least one company was in indiana (i'm in arkansas). if they won the bid, they just ordered from another company closer to us and paid them to deliver the fuel. doesn't really make sense at first (why not just order direct from that company right?) well, gas companies buy from each other for better prices.

"public" gas stations are similar. if its cheaper to order/deliver to a certain location from a rival company, they'll do it. the difference is in the tanks under the station. type/age/maintenance of tanks plays a bigger factor than the gas itself.

and yes, i've seen the "out of order" labels. just like the pumps that pump more with each click. tricking the people that don't pay attention, out of even more money. kinda like "buy in the next 10 minutes" TV commercials. I call them all "stupid tax"

Local station back home got me when the fuel prices went threw the roof. They had three stations in the area,I always run mid grade and it was always in the middle. Two of the staitions put in new pump now premium is in the middle:annoyed::annoyed::annoyed: guess what truck didnt run better on $5.00 a gallon premium fuel. The other one that got me was a station that had only premium they ran out of everything else:annoyed::annoyed:

I read in a magazine article where they tested a car that requires premium fuel. They did mileage and performance tests on different grades and the differences were tough to record because they were so minuscule. In some cases vehicles run better on certain grades, but most of the time people are just wasting money.

yeah the y do have the same here too, but back in the stupid days..gas cars fumiong white smoke were common near gas stations:icon_rofl:
and when they are self-serve people sometimes do it, not that common but still, the newbie attentand one is a constant hazzard.
or when u say "x" amount and he goes crazy cuz didint hear you and topped out the tank:annoyed:

funny, i sense the same, when using shell the mpg goes down, but if i use texaco the CEL comes on and the engine starts knocking/pinging when runing a hill with a hurry

Yo,
I think my 08' F-250 reccomends BP gas, right inside the fuel door. Around here the only one that doesnt mix with ethonal is the shell, so thats who we usually use.

Does Shell's mileage decrease maybe have anything to do with the cleaning agents and nitrogen in it? I usually get mine right from the fuel company with a gas card but sometimes the gas is really bad since it is in huge filling tanks. Not rare to get a little dirt in it.

have u done your math? do u really need to spent 50 on food? and how often??

Well, I wasn't the one spending it on food, my mother was buying it. I just got to use her gas card today as a "going to college" present.

They have alot of CHEAP food there. You just have to know how to shop.
