transmission shifting hard

Hi, back again with the Tranny now.. From frist to second it shifts real hard and at different RPM's... Also, the overdrive light comes on and flashes sometimes but not all the times. Where do I start in finding the problem???

I believe your tranny will probably throw a code. you may wanna try that out and see what direction it points you to.

First thing i would do is get it scanned for codes..that will point you in the right direction. When codes are present for the tranny the computer puts it in like a fail safe mode and it increases line pressure to max which causes the hard shifts.

went to get the code read and nothing showed up? Any thoughts, I want to do what I can to fix it...

take it down the road and make the light flash and have the code read while its flashing. if again nothing then you have a computer problem, ford dealer is prob the only ppl that can address that issue.

ummm how would i read the codes on my 89 a4ld if the reader is under the hood and im driving? and how does the code reader work for transmissions?
