transmission problems, A4LD 4x4

Ford Ranger 89 Auto 4x4 33x12.50 and 7in lift
my tranny took a crap last week. before this hunk o junk gets rebuilt again(and not under warranty of course), im interested to see what i can swap in. This is the second time on the second ranger i have had this problem with. Me no like this transmission

Direct fit is what i want. the easiest way. THe strongest tranny with the least amount of effort. Can i swap in an A4ld 4x4 auto from a 4.0Lauto to a 2.9L? Direct fit? no extra parts? Driveline lenghtening? I know the 90s trannys have a different computer. what else?

Meh my FM tranny holds up pretty good. Course I have never trusted automatics so I cant recommend one.
