can someone tell me what size bolts I need to mount T case in 1984 b2. I know there are 5 of them, just don't know what size. I bought vehicle without T case or mounting bolts. thanks to all.

Depending on when that T-case was made they are either 3/8-16UNC (ENGLISH) bolts
~1-1/2" long (don't quote me on exact length I haven't had my coffee yet)

OR 10mm x 1.5 METRIC bolts ~40mm long (approx the same length)

Considering yours is an '84 I'd lean towards GUESSING you have the english threads.

Did all years have the same size. I got a '90 ranger, but the transfer case is from a bronco ii. (Don't know what year). The ranger bolts dont fit right.

You know how people say there are no stupid questions. They are wrong.

Seeing as how the information you are asking for could easily be obtained by reading the post above yours and thinking very gently for half a second or so, I would say that your question falls very squarely into the "mythical" category of "stupid question".

Thanks for all the sarcasm guys. I meant to ask if those were the only 2 sizes for all the years.

You can mean to ask anything you want. What you really asked is if there was only one size for all the years. I tell this to my wife ALL THE TIME and I will now pass it on to you.

What you meant to say means nothing to anybody. It is what you actually say that matters (especially on the forums with 100% text-based communication) because all we get is what you actually say.

To the best of my knowledge it is only the two sizes. The split seems to be between the 87 and 88 model years. I tried to put the transfer case out of my 87 into my 88 and the 88 bolts would not thread in. I had to swap the face plates because the 87 bolts have been lost for years.

My bolts are bigger. 1/2" or 13mm. My bro has an 87 bronco ii. I'll steal a bolt next time I'm over there and see if it works in my truck.

Yes, they only used 2 sizes.

Yes, the change over was in the 87-88 range. I've had about a dozen STX Hi-Ryder cases over the years (only made in 87-89). Some of them were standard, some were metric.

The bolt sizes listed are thread sizes, not the size of the head. Bolts are never measured by the size of the wrench you use on it.
