trans swap

Let me clear something up, the last duraspark Rangers were the 1990 2.0 Rangers.

The last of the duraspark 2.3's were the early 1985's, because mid year 1985 wth the switch to EFI the 2.3 used the TFI ignition system.

there were NO single plug 2.3 RANGERS after the beginning of the 1989 production run
However the 1989's and early 1990's didn't have Mass Air.,

There were a few EDIS 2.3 single plug 2.3's made, but NONe were installed in Rangers
These were basically the early type EFI lima engine but with 1989-up electronics on them and all were installed in mustangs.

THIS is the ignition system to use on a 2.3turbo if you want EDIS but lack imagination. look for a 1990 Mustang with a goofy looking exhaust side coil pack, it s a coil pack but the towers are moulded shut and there is a resistor inside, this was to "fool" the DPIS ignition system into thinking the second set of spark plugs were actually there on an engine that had no place to put them.

If you DO NOT lack imagination or electrical expertise the ignition system to use on a 2.3 turbo engine is the EDIS4 system used on the second generation (1991-97) Escorts.

okay thanks for the help and sorry for any confusion. okay here we go i put the old comp (eec) back in the truck and still have the same result there is no spark, the motor cranks fine and im getting fuel, im really stumped here guys. im guessing that i need to pull every sensor and either retest or purchase new ones but thats costly to replace.

Are you getting power to the plugs and wires? are you sure the coil packs didn't go bad? Are the coil packs getting all the power they need? Did you possibly unplug something underneath or behind the motor when you swapped the trans?

no im not getting any electric to the plugs but i am getting juice to the coils. the resistance on the coils check out. how would i determine if the coils are getting enough power? and ive inspected every part of the wiring harness connection to every sensor. but there is one connection in the harness for the trans that will not connect to the manual trans that i have in now, it is a three wire plug (orange/yellow stripe, purple/yellow stripe, and a red wire) there is a connection on the trans for a three wire plug but this plug wont fit. i was informed that this connection is mainly for the auto trans

If the coil is getting 5 volts that should be enough to make it fire and run the engine, not well, but it can in theory run at that.

Make sure the cam sensor is plugged in and working. I'd check to see that the coils are getting ground and that the PCM is breaking ground correctly.

Of course you could always check your plug firing order, if you put the plugs in the wrong place it wil have the same effect. By the way I am now totally confused as to what your running. But if our input helps get this started just know that we are the shitz.

Wait... I'm not familiar with this engine but... does it have a distributor or is it like 4 coil packs? I'm assuming coils :icon_twisted:

and there is no power from the coils to the plugs in every plug?

I agree that it could be your cam position sensor, either not plugged in right or wired up wrong... That is where I would start looking at sensors.
