Trans leak

I moved the cat outta the way, thinking I could just push the servo back in and re-seat the retaining clip, but it ain't moving (it moved a fraction of an inch, but no more).

1. Is what I am trying to do even possible?
2. Can I hit it with a punch (block of wood) to try and free it or am I going to end up with a busted servo and pieces all over the inside of the trans?
3. Should I just replace the servo?

From looking at the exploded view and vids, it looks like the servo(s) just kinda drop in over the valve and spring assembly. I know there is a seal in there as well.

Here's what I am looking at

Might want to remove OxSensor before damaging it & for more working room.

I wish I could be of more help here...

Does it look like rust may have gotten the best of that retaining ring and just popped out?

Hey guys...no worries. Everyone's busy.
Uncle...glad you asked. Answer below...

I was able to answer all my questions by just following my credo... 😬

1. Is what I am trying to do even possible?
Answer is yes. It is possible and I did do what I thought i Could.

2. Can I hit it with a punch (block of wood) to try and free it or am I going to end up with a busted servo and pieces all over the inside of the trans?
I was able to pound the OD servo back into place using a punch and dead blow.

3. Should I just replace the servo?
Time will tell. I am more concerned with the C-Clip popping out, but so far it is holding.

What I think happened to make the spring clip pop out is this:
If you look at the images you can see a strike point that I think made the clip pop out and the servo cover followed suit. Only at the bottom and jammed -- thank goodness. If it had popped all the way out, there would have been a mess, not to mention missing parts strewn along the highway.

The first image is before I did any repairs. The second is after I cleaned everything and re-seated the C-clip. You can see the strike point much more clearly in this shot.
So we can close this one up for now and keep your fingers crossed that it holds up long enough for me to get the new audio system in and Ann won't ask why I'm spending money on that instead of getting the tranny fixed...:p
