tranny stalls engine

Help guys have a 95 ranger 3.0 with 4r44e trans. Problem is will pull in reverse but whin put in drive it stalls engine. I can roll off hill and put in drive and it will go but feals like it stuck in high range. Will not shift down and has no passing gear. Any help will be greatly appreciated

If when you stop ti a complee stop the truck feel like stopping with a manual transmission without ptressing the clutch pedal with the trans in gear. its your lock-up in the tranny the problem. try to unplug it a take a roadtest.
