Tranny Help

I just bought older 92 or 93 ranger XLT ext cab 4x4 with with bad automatic tranny, what year tranny will bolt right in this truck other than the same year ? Dont know for sure yet what is the matter with tranny that is in it, Is there some things i could check first ? also it has a 4.0 for motor and does the tranny have to be out of 4.0 would a 3.0 work ? thanks much for any and all help.

No go on the 3.0.

4.0 is best, 2.9 will fit, but will likely cook quick.

Any year's A4LD will bolt up and work if you swap in the correct valve body. Assuming that your issue isn't in the valve body.

Also, do you own an oil-pressure gauge set? That will go a long way towards being able to diag this if you do.
