Tranny fluid

Hi there,

I have an '08 Ranger FX4 4l v6 manual, I want to change the transmission fluid and use synthetic, anyone have suggestions/info?

I used a Castrol brand synthetic ATF in my MO5D years ago.

I believe MerconV is synthetic as well.


My best suggestion is to remove the FILLER plug BEFORE you remove the DRAIN plug.

This question comes up a lot here. You're being proactive by servicing a transmission that most people ignore throughout it's lifetime. Go w/ what Ford requires and you'll be more than fine. Don't try to beat the system. There are a lot of good products out there, not all are for every application. Don't gamble w/ your truck.
