my manual trans went bad in my 1990 ranger 2wd with the 2.9 it had the mitsu tranny what is another trans i can put in it considering i cant find this fm132 anywhere? Also what would i have to do if i put a different one in?

a 2wd m5od trans. your rear driveshaft may need to be different though if theres a difference in length of transmissions.

If you want to swap in a 2wd M5OD (best option), all you really have to do Find one, and swap it in. The only modification that will need to be done is to the floor plate. You can either cut it to fit the new shifter (it sits a few inches further forward, or you can remove the front seats and pull the carpet back to get to the 4 8mm bolts that hold it on and swap in the one from your donor (any floor plate from a M5OD equiped truck will work). all that will be left them is to trim the carpet. If you take your time, the piece that you trim out, can be used to replaced the gap it will leave behind the shifter.

The clutch line is different as well. Try to get a trans complete with the line and master cylinder.
