caught myself on camera yesterday mowing with the ‘42 allis-c. Completely forgot about my trail cam I have set up to capture deer that have been leaving tracks. (and wow-that footage showed not a few but a herd, no wonder that wet spot looks like a hog lot)

Can you get any legacy support from New Holland for the old Ford tractors?

I guess that makes sense why they seem to go for cheap compared to other brands.

N series is like a jeep or air-cooled VW, you can almost order one out of a catalog. The farther from those you go the worse they get until you get into NH era.

You can order most parts through Steiner for mechanicals, my brother's ~'70 4000 had a bent pushrod and that was $12 and on the shelf... had the head redone at Napa for fairly cheap. Napa has most consumables, there's some support but it all depends on how beat to heck the subject is you're working on... as with most older tractors, JD and Kubota might have parts available but you're going to pay for it, if you're going to use an old POS to farm, best to have backup tractors no matter what...

Most non Ford use Delco parts for the electrical which is common. My A-C's use the ignition giblets my JD does, same as a 50's GM car, every parts store in town has them (and deere points are junk)

Doesn't really matter the age, if you need something there is a good chance it is a day or two out, nobody stocks anything anymore.

So far I’ve never had anything bigger than a lawn/garden tractor. My current one is a Craftsman GT with a 24 hp Koehler. I got it with like 50 hours on it for like $200 because the guy thought the hydrostatic rear was out of it. Turned out it needed a belt and two back tires, which at the time I was able to go to Sears and have them order a specific part number (it wouldn’t come up on their system until they typed in the number and then it just showed as “ag tire” but it was two AG tires on rims. I got those home, popped a bead, dumped 5-6 gallons of RV antifreeze in each, aired it up, threw them on with 55# wheel weights and away we went. Thing is a tank, but it will rut a soft yard. I ended up swapping the original 50” deck for a 54” and setting it up for a snow plow and bagger. It works pretty good for me but I’d really like a real tractor at some point.

Came close a few years back to buying a new tractor from Rural King, they had a decent sized one that you could get at the time with a front loader, backhoe and belly mower and they were offering financing that was pretty nice. Unfortunately I didn’t pay much attention and missed the sale. As it stands right now, I really need a real backhoe more than a tractor, so I guess that’s the way it’s gonna end up. A mini excavator might be more ideal than a backhoe, but prices on them are stupid around here. Wish I would have bought one of those 15 years ago when I had been amusing myself with the idea.

Just picked this 60" Walco Douglas finish mower up a mile from my house, guy delivered it with his 2000 Ford. $700. Didn't think that was bad. Nothing wrong with it. See how I like it may keep it, or resell.

I would sure like 10 maybe 20 acres...

But I sure don't want to mow any where near enough grass that I need a mower like that.

Haha I have about 3 and have a 60" Deere Z930M which I can knock out in about an hour.. but this was a deal and I know I can move it if I don't like it. Plus, zero turns are impossible to have a beer on... Just saying.

Plus, it’s easier to steer a wheel one handed then the two handle bar things.
