I have an 06 ranger with the 4l sohc, I just did my front timing chain tensioner and thermostat housing(aluminum) today, and everything works fine, however, if I try to perform a clear flood mode it won't regester and it'll throw a P0122 throttle position code and on startup the idle will be a little wonky, but it corrects itself. Because it's cable throttle it really isn't affecting driving, and cruse control still works, id just rather not have a check engine light sitting on my dash, as this ranger has never had one. I did disconnect the tps sensor, and i was an idiot because I actually unbolted it rather than just disconnecting the pigtails. Is there any way to fix this? Does it just have to take a week to relearn everything? If I disconnect the battery it won't throw the code on the next startup, but it will throw it if I try the clear flood mode.

Why are you doing the clear flooded engine mode? I would run it awhile before I tried that. Really no reason to do that unless you are having other problems correct? It may be once the computer wakes up and see's that large voltage from the tps because you are holding it to the floor, it may not like it. Keep experimenting with it.

I replaced the front timing chain tensioner and needed to prime it because the new one was dry. I ended up breaking the tps while I was putting it back on, just didn't know it at the time. Ended up running fine and runs like brand new now that I replaced the sensor. Just glad I didn't jump time with that startup surge. Basically the clear flood mode pumps oil into the new tensioner to make it stiff, but because the tps wasn't reading any signal it didn't start the clear flood, it just turned on the injectors with the throttle plate wide open😬
