I use chains for everything, my favorite is a bent hook chain (doesn't slip free when you slack it up)
I've seen chains break, I've seen straps break, I've seen ropes break........ and I guess I'm crazy but I like chains by gah.

2 inch Samson Line, only used when mudding.....I'd pay to see anyone break that. I always carry a 16' chain and about 250 feet of haywire and a couple smaller 3 ton snatch blocks.

Straps won't do it for me, for the things I have to pull, the strap is never flat against what I'm pulling, so it ends up tearing the strap, that's the problem I ran into with this current strap.

Make friends with a local fireman, they need to replace hoses periodically and a short (18" or so) length of retired 3" fire hose makes a great cut guard for 2" or 3" web straps.

i always carry 2 heavy chains from my dads tractor trailer days, and 2 straps also from his tractor trailer days. and 2 come alongs

A 20' yellow strap with loops is good for just about everything.

these i can get

i use a good recovery strap and i also have a cheap lil light rope thats for cars that to get unstuck is just hook up and slowly inch my truck forward an there out
