Torsion bar keys

Do torsion bar keys crank the torsion bars just like you would normally crank em giving it a crappy quality ride or do they actually keep the ride quality the same and level the front?

No, all they do is allow you to crank the front higher than the stock keys will allow. It's generally not recommended to go above 1.5-2", which the stock keys will usually allow. Any higher and driveline angles become a problem along with increased ball joint wear and a harsh ride.
