hey guys long story short i did a 302 swap in my once 2.9/a4 ranger and now i'm going back to v6 power for a number of reasons. i never sold the a4 while i was running the v8 so, im going to use it till it blows behind the new v6 and i'll eventually do a manual swap.

only thing is, the converter is a little rusty, and i think a little water might have gotten inside it. i'm not worried about the outside, and assuming i can get the snout that goes into the trans nice and smooth and shiny again, do you think i should try to run it?

I'd be inclined to say no. The reason being that if some of the rust did plug oil passages then your going to have a ten times bigger bill replacing the trans [with a rebuilt, I paid C$2000.00 for one] than buying a converter. Now I don't know transmissions so maybe there is nothing to worry about but until someone with more knowledge chimes in, there's my thoughts on the question.
Good luck, whatever you decide,

Richard

yeah i think im just gonna replace it. they're cheaper than i thought. i can get one on ebay with a 1 year warranty for like $90. but the listing just says "A4LD torque converter 4.0 2.3 and 3.0", are they all the same?
