After warm up the top hose should be about 190deg
Bottom about 170deg, 15-20deg cooler is spec for radiators
Low flow thru radiator can be old water pump impeller is not circulating coolant as well as it should
Or radiator is getting clogged up.
Or a combination of both
After warm up, set heater to defrost, temp to hot and fan to high while idling
Feel if air is getting hotter as you idle, an increase in coolant temp that shouldn't be happening
Drive for 15 minutes
Shut off engine and open the hood
Pull back fan shroud
Run your hand across radiator fins and feel for cool spots, those are blocked passages
You have a cross flow rad, so hot coolant comes in from top and flows across rad to then to the bottom.
Rad should get cooler toward the bottom but still be warm, 170deg
If you find cold areas then rad needs to be replaced
Rubber smell could be wires or Cat converter getting too hot(rich running), hows your MPG?
Could be hoses getting too hot but...........you would have to make that call by feeling them
