So on the other thread, "Trip to the North Pole" we started arguing that rangers would do better in the trip or something... I don't really know... Anyways English Dan said just email Top Gear to compare the two. European Ranger vs. European Toyota Hiliux. I sent them an email saying that they should do the show and why and where this argument started... Anyways I think it would be a good Idea and would help alot if more of us sent emails about it to show ther is a group that wants to see this, and get us that much closer to an actual show.

I took the liberty of getting the email for you guys already. Here it is just Copy paste this or whatever. (I'll get a link too for the website)

Thanks I really wanna see this. :icon_thumby:

the only problem is that the hilux is the european version of a full size toyota and the ranger is still a semi compact truck. so how can it be compared?

Well whatever the toyota version is of the ranger over there... actually aren't they basically similar dimension anyways? It didn't look much bigger then the Euro ranger.

dunno in the episode it looked bigger maybe it was the massive $2500 handmade tires it had on it

the toyota hilux is the same as a regualr toyota pickup sr5 pre1995 over here the only difference is that over there they came with the diesel instead of the 22re or 3.0 gas burner they are the same size and yes the only difference yall saw on the show was the hilux had huge tires and fender flares. but the trucks would be in the same class

Wrong. I saw a few Hilux pickups on moto tours in Europe. More like Dakota or Tacoma sized. Bigger than the little Ranger.

And I am sorry. I know everyone likes to defend what they have but the Ranger wouldn't stand a chance against the Hilux diesel. It couldn't take the Tacoma for that matter.

wait so its wrong cause you saw a truck and didnt think it looked the same??? have you owned a toyota?? the hilux is a european verison of the SR5 in american toyota is like every other car company the SR5 is like a ranger the tacoma is the same size as a ranger it just has more body options and more packages to choose from the tundra is the same as a f150 so how is the hilux bigger than a ranger. and isnt the dakota in the same class as the ranger? its just dodges verison of one

If you must know the tour company I went with drove a Hilux to pull the trailer with the bikes in it. I saw it up close. It's bigger than MY Ranger.

It is not the same as I also have a Tacoma and as much as you hate to hear this, it kicks my Rangers ass in every category except price. I know price is a biggie for some, but not me. The Ranger is staying but it is far from my best vehicle.

i dont hate to hear that i love to hear that ive owned 2 yotas that were amazing vehicles and id love to get my last one back it got better mpg than my ranger now and would stomp just about any 4x4 truck out there in 2wd among all things

I agree. My Tacoma is the best truck I have owned. The Ranger is only here because it's nearly worthless with Ford selling things so cheap and I don't need the $10k so bad to get rid of the truck for peanuts.

second that id have another yota in a heartbeat but hows things are now i might as well keep my ranger till i can find a yota that hasnt been tore up by some young punk with mommys and daddys money

Yeah but we aren't going to be compareing YOUR Ranger, its going to be the European Ranger Which is Strikingly similar IMO.

You know what Forget it all you douche bags are good for is arguing.

Having lived in England, and my uncle owning a 4 door diesel Ranger, I can tell you they are about the same damn size.

They are larger because Ford doesn't have the F150 in England. The European Ranger is about the same size as a North American Tacoma.

Well I've only been in over here in the U.S for about 3 years now, so I've grown up around the Hilux and I would have said it was the same size as my Ranger...

But anyway, when we all threadjacked the last thread all you yota haters was saying the Ranger can do that, so I suggested the comparison - now it seems to me you are all backing down - by saying 'but the ranger is smaller, blah, blah, blah'. So now you are admitting that the little Ranger would not have made it to the North Pole. Sounds to me like people are already making excuses.

Don't get me wrong guys - I drive a ranger and I like it - but if they put it against a hilux or a tacoma - my money will be on the Toyota!! The rest of the world living in much harsher conditions cannot be wrong!!

The Ranger only took off in the UK amongst company vehicles and those that couldn't afford a Toyota or the Mitsubishi L200 - which by the way is an awesome truck. Search for the Mitsubishi L200 Warrior!! I have no idea why I have never seen one of these over here.
