Intake Restriction FTW!!

Immediate seat-of-the-pants improvement due to your wallet being nearly $100 lighter and thinner.

Honestly, the basic stuff listed is about it for the 3.0.

The 3.0 is a solid, durable, reliable motor. But it's sure not a speedster.

Your biggest bang for the buck will likely be gears. Get a complete axle from a junkyard for $75 instead of paying $500 for new gears and installation.

No matter what you do, you aren't going to be chasing Vettes.

Zip tie fix is the best of the bunch.
Add a Tornado (tm)
Get some stickers (All one colour) and place them in a vertical stripe on each fender right behind the wheel <I am told that this adds 'street cred'
Add a giant stereo that rattles everything for a 4 block radius (don't forget to add the stereo stickers all over your rear window)
Definitely add a giant muffler. Just steal a metal garbage can and punch a hole in it.
For the finale - a giant wing made out wood and scraps of aluminum!

LOL

hey now i got stickers on my fender.....
i got the 2 10inch rockford subs with a 1000watt sony amp
and i got no muffler, do i win something?:taunt:

Roller rockers
4.10 or 4.56 gearing
JBA headers
Manual Trans
Composite intake from later Ranger

If you have the $$$$ and patience....whipple S/C

Frankly, the ONLY really cost effective mod is a tachometer. Perhaps accompanied by a permanent vacuum gauge.

3.0Ls like to spin fast. Use the tach to keep it there. To keep the engine in it's happy zone at part throttle, keep the vacuum high. At full throttle, it's zero so that doesn't do much.

Mods

88 Ranger already had a mild factory lift.

Cut the fenders, added rubber flairs.

Revolver shackles.

Lock-Rite locker (rear)

Rancho 6000 shocks.

Other stuff includes snorkel, custom bumpers, winch, scuba tank, Jerry cans, pick and shovel, CB radio, first aid kits, fire extinguisher.

1. swap the 3.0L for a 4.0L
2. twin remote turbos
3. 8.8 from a 96 exploder with 4.56's locked
4. dual friction kevlar/carbon fiber composite clutch
