top 5 favorite cars

TOP 5 "normalish cars" in my book are:
Lotus Elise SC
1957 Chevy Belair 2 door.
Ford Lightning (2nd gen) - shocked a truck made it on my list
BMW Z4 M
Porsche Cayman S

The V-8 Camaro will turn your Beemer inside out on a drag strip though, it all depends on what you want to do.
That's fine. Since it's a street car and not a drag car being fast in a straight line isn't performance at all. Road courses take a total package of a car.

And I wouldn't be so sure about the Camaro turning it inside out unless GM makes the thing hook up well for a change.

Going 150mph in a little plane is boring and expensive. Going 100mph on water isn't boring and you may die in your 50-yo design which is totally devoid of safety features, but it's cheap.

come on lifes short have fun either dont go fast in a wood box or go fast die and have fun

A BMW 3 series or Z4 would cast about the same or less than the V-8 Camaro but will spank it hard on a road course. I can't wait for Top Gear to test it.

Not if you put someone in the camero who knows how to drive it.

Assuming the Camero actually has some torque, a skilled driver would be able to correct the understeer through throttle use.

Besides, road courses are for foreign guys named jacque. Real men drag race.

Nothing quite like hearing the secondaries open and raming through the gears.

So real men like less skillful tasks? Good to know. BTW, understeer can be corrected through throttle use but in the process you actually go slower through the turn. What good is going slower through a turn? And thankfully those road courses are for "foreign guys". That means I don't have to worry about someone that doesn't know how to drive a track properly hitting my car when they lose it in the chicane.

The thing is, unless you are on a track, you won't really need either trait. Any remotely modern car should be able to take a curve at the recommended speed limit or get up to speed at a reasonable time.

If you go much faster than that, either law enforcement or a crash your car's performance couldn't save you from will change your habits.

As far as GM never being able to hook up, I suppose that is why they DOMINATE drag racing. The last style of Camaro was in the low 13's out of the box. With 425hp, a 6 speed manual and optional launch control, the new SS is going to haul.

The new SS is a POS......... for the same money I would rather have a Saleen.

'52 style-line Deluxe (Grandpa's)
'66 SS Impala convertible (needs A LOT of work :icon_welder:)

All of these cars are ones I've driven, helped build, or played around
