a buddy of mine went and got the $99 or $199 paint job and a while later he was putting gas in his car and spilt some on the paint and took it right off another buddy told me they don't clear coat the basecoat if your gonna do it check it out first.

Wow lol. Yeah I'd be pretty pissed if that happens. I'd like to find someone locally to put a cheapie paint job on it but everyone wants so much. Hell I just want mine to match and look ok.

the paintjob they prices for me, for max 400 included clear coat which helps alot. I have seen 2 maaco jobs on friends cars, one got black and one white. Both looked good but haven't talked to them since so idk how they held up. I want to paint the truck myself, my friend has a big compressor and a cheap spray gun, it would cost probably like 300 to do I. Myself and Idk how much work it would actually be and I've only ever sprayed bicycle frames with spray cans so I'm not sure how it would come out...

i took a 2000 ranger i had to maco. they do a terible job.it looks good for 6 months to a year then goes downhill quick. got the truck back had some paint on the interior and the whole inside of the truck was covered in dust.paint scratched to easy and paint started peeling about 10 months after it was painted. i will never go back even if my truck has no paint. save your money.

you can do it yourself there are step by step instructions on this site read them and see if your up to the task it does take some skill and maybe a few tries and the right tools im telling you this because i paint yachts and yes i know cars are different.

MAACO can't even do the same/similar color right. One such job I saw--NOT their cheapest, but a cheapy--looked like tiger-stripe camo, LOL!

The guys who do it themselves with ROLLERS (no lie!, special little foam rollers) get better results!... better than you'd expect... using TremClad... and no hassles with masks, compressors, etc... still need a fairly dust-free space... check it out... may do it myself some day:

WOW... this is one of the best roller jobs I've seen... shows what's possible with enough wetsanding, clearcoat, and patience....

Basically, it's a your time vs. your money thing. You can either pay someone else a LOT and be happy with the results, or... do a LOT of work yourself, and spend less than $100, and be happy... but you will NEVER be happy with a cheap-ass MAACO paint job. I think MAACO exists so sleazy used car lots can rip-off unfortunate low-income people who know nothing about cars.
