Please Help! My son has a 1998 Ranger, regular cab, 2wd, XL. It has 17" Mustang Torq Thrust Wheels on it. The tires are stock Mustang size, 245-45-17's. The speed-o runs about 5-7 mph fast. Does anyone know what would have been the stock size tire on this truck? Or how can I find out? We want replace the tires, but switch the size to something a little taller to match the stock height so the speed-o will be right.

By the way we are new to the site and just getting started. His Ranger has fresh dark blue paint, sparco racing buckets and blue 4 pt harnesses, FIPK, Flow Master with side exit dual tips, lower rear springs, dropped spindles, and traction bars. Interior also has 425 watts and 2 10" subs.

It's off by a percentage, not in MPH. Check the door tag for stock tire size.

it depends on how much it is dropped but i would say a 245 60 17 or 235 55 17 should be a pretty good fitment but i dont know much about what will fit on lowered rangers, you will probably have to test fit a couple sizes and find one you like . it probably came with 205 75 14s, thats what my 98 2wd ranger had but like hahnsb2 said, check the door.

Being a 1998 model, it should have at least 15" rims. Most commonly now is P225/70R15. Unless a sport, 4x4, or something else package. But check the driver door near the latch, it will say what the truck came with out of the factory.
