Tire shop won't put 235/75/15 GY Wranglers on my 90 Bronco II, ???

If I'm remembering correctly, 235/75-15 was an optional tire size on RBV's anyway, so any shop should mount them up no problem...

On a Ranger yes, but not on a Bronco II. Most of the chain shops won't install non-stock size tires any more. What you CAN do is take the wheels off, drive them to Wal-Mart in another vehicle, have them mounted, and take them back home.

88 Ranger SC 2WD 235/75/15

Will 235/75/15's be okay to run for awhile on a 1988 Ranger 2WD (No lift).
I bought some 2000 Ford Explorer rims with the tires but just wanted the rims. The tires are in decent shape. I put one tire on the front to look at it and they seem big relative to the 14's running now.

same thing happened when my dad got some new tires for the 88 b2 i have right now. sears would only put on p215's, but a few months later, they put p235's on my sisters 86 b2. i eventually put the 235's on my b2, they rubbed at full lock on the radius arms and sway bar, but not too bad

They will probably rub on the front.

I had the same thing happen at Costco back when I had a Cadillac STS. I wasn't even changing sizes, it just wasn't on the door. Mine had DEALER installed aftermarket rims and they wouldn't do it. I went to Big O and had them installed the next day.

unfortunately that's becoming more common. Too many morons out there getting tires too big, then suing the tire shop for putting them on for them. So they just have to treat everyone as if they're a moron and don't know what's good for them.

Ah... Ok...

That's ridiculous, I would just ask to talk to the manager and if he said no, I'd punch him in the face and drive off. Look around the parking lot, I bet not a single one of these tire-nazi's has stock wheels and tires.

Probably would be the best way to do it anyway... so they don't get them on wrong (too loose or tight)

Usually the ones at Walmart seem like folks who are just doing a job and don't give a crap or know anything about cars...so I bet all their cars ARE completely stock.

Other things WalMart won't do:
-check coolant level. I guess they're too worried about a workers comp for burns because a tech opened the cap.
-remove an oversized drain plug, no matter how I assured them I've had the plug out before and there wasn't anything wrong with the threads. I was so furious I wasn't really listening but he said something about if he takes the plug out and it's stripped he could be held responsible.

I was really hoping to get that taken care of today because I've been so busy getting the Jeep ready for a trip I don't have time to deal with it.

i used to work at jiffy lube, i will NEVER take any vehicle i own to a place like that ever again. i guarantee you, i'll be 85 years old with my walker under the car changing my oil.

sometimes people like to use liability as a reason not to do work, and yeah, i think most auto parts stores employ people that dont know shit about what they're doing. i mean i work at autozone and we have 3 girls that work there....today one asked me what the difference in an engine fan and a radiator fan was :icon_confused:

Watch the guys at walmart, they will break out atorque wrench and tighten the lugnutz to spec. Its hilariously stupid

Aircooled engines (like an old VW) have an engine fan... so there can be a difference :icon_thumby:
