Tire Safety Reminder

TMPS (Tire Monitor Pressure System) is NOT a replacement for checking your tire's pressure. Sad fact, I had a lady with the that TMPS light on and she didn't know what it meant.

I agree, but even with an idiot light people still don't check the pressure. That was my point.

Hey Pete
I'll sell ya my original spare from my 90 ranger, rusted steel rim included. Firestone fe480 its still got some tread.....

Hahaha.

I just have a hard time justifying putting $250+ in tires for a 20 year old truck, when I can spend $100 in used that some old man just threw away (they're waranteed as well) that are still decent.

When I get some rims that are worth putting something into, I will probably get good tires for them.

Pete

I work at a car dealership (in the shop)
And we have the tire plugs that are like brownish leather color.
They are sticky as hell and they seem to hold about 95% of the time.
But the foam stuff or whatever that people put in it like fix-a-flat
doesn't work.

The only good thing on my truck are the tires.:3gears:

Word on the Fix-a-Flat. And on the downside of Fix-a-Flat, it eats chrome on steel rims. The plug/patch we use at the shop are a 2n1 plug & patch. They are made by Tech supplies.

Why not? I spent $500 in Michelin LTX for my Ranger. And I'll be spending that amount again in 2010 when the tires are about 5yrs old. (Ozone damage is killing them).

I just spent 700 bucks(10 k ago) on new Michelin tires for my 05 Oddy.I don't know what kind of weight they have in the front of those vehicles but I'm already at down to 50% in the front.

This actually happened to me the other day while going to school. I ran over a tool box of all things (it popped out of the back of a truck and tools flew everywhere). I imediatly thought I should put my truck up on the lift at school to check for any underbody damage cause I heard a lot of noise. Then I felt my truck start to lean. The worst part was I put my 4ways on and tried to move over to the shoulder but no one would let me threw. So I just cut everyone off.

So did you go back and pick up the tools that you ran over? I think thats a fair trade considering the the owner probably will have no idea where they fell off.
