ok guys i bought some treadwright howlers on 265/75/16 on an E rated casing and the tire guys at discount say run them at 50psi because other wise they break down the sidewalls because the tires overheat. but i drive a ranger and the door says 35 so which one should i go with or should i just run them at 40psi like i think i should

thanks for you help guys

I'd go with the 50 lbs the guys reccomended. That 35 psi on the door is for what ever the stock tires were.

Run the 35. The vehicle isn't heavy enough to warrant 50psi. If you read the side wall of the tire it will tell you to use the vehicle manufacturers recommended pressure.

I ran LT265/75r16 load range E all terrains on my 05 sport trac for 3 years without issues at 35PSI front and back. Even towed my 24 foot travel trailer with it at 35...no issue and still rode nice.

Call or email the manufacturer, ask them what the recomended static loaded radius is. Grab a ruler and air up to their specs.

I've had 35 psi on my e rated 265/75/16 for a month now since I got it by accident lol. My other 3 are d rated. It is exactly the same as others, not deflated looking. So I can't imagine it overheating. Tread is still brand new looking. It only looses air like my other front tire because my old rims suck. Besides that it works perfect.

Well... Maybe it's been 2 months now... Idk... Lol time flies...

This.

The tire isn't going to overheat if it's not "bulging" the sidewall out because it has too little pressure. 35 PSI is plenty.

Though you might be able to eek another 0.5, maybe 1 hwy MPG out of them at 50 PSI, they won't wear as evenly, and it's gonna rattle your teeth pretty good too.

I run 40 psi in the front and 50 psi in the rear, seams to be the sweet spot for mpg and ride for me. I have almost 40000 on my km2s now with no issues.
