tire carrier

that one looks familiar but with a different pivot than mine, i used a trailer spindle with bearings so it doesnt sag at all, but it sure does swing open fast! good thing i made a stop for it or id be on my 10th or 11th tail light already!

^^^^^^^^^i want your bumper, mine got crumbled yesterday when a dang dodge rearended me:( Fml I need to find a place to get some materials at!

those look sweet! how long does it take to make things like that?

i wish i had a bender and welder... i need sliders but have not the tools :(

How did you do the setup with the trailer spindle, I was looking at doing that to replace mine. Is it just welded to the bumper then a piece of tube the right size over the bearings? No need for a bender or a welder. I cut all of mine with an angle grinder then had a local fab shop weld it and bend the plate. It took me about 4 days to do all of mine. I drew it out then made it out of cardboard then traced the cardboard pieces onto the steel plate. I used coat hangers to mock up the tube parts.

hey f.o.r.d, you need to take a look at your frame man... you seem to have a lot of frame flex where you have the jackstands placed in that pic... take a look at the box/cab seam

These all look great! :icon_welder: I want one like Sampson! :icon_thumby:

its an illusion, a tree fell on that side of the bed, right where the diagonal tube on the roll bar intersects the bed rail. when that happened it pulled the front of the box backwards, towards the tailgate. i managed to beat out the dent with a piece of wood and lift the bed rail back up and make it straight using a c-clamp and my engine hoist.

for the tire swing pivot, i bought the spindle from northerntool.com and then purchased the pivot tube from www.troutindustries.com. theres a lot of pics in my build thread of the process, but no actual measurements or blue prints. theres some pics i drew a few years ago of how i wanted my rear bumper to look, then when i had the materials i just made it happen!
