timing belt on 99 4banger

Another question. We got a tensionor also as that is recommended to be replaced at the same time. I am reading that we need a special tool to remove this? Is this true?

No, you can use a long crowbar. That's what I use everytime I change one out.

thanks hardwareman for the crowbar advice. I am wondering if I also need to buy a puller to take the crankshaft pulley wheel off to get that belt outta there. Or do you have another special trick for this? Thanks.

Yeah, I forgot about that. You'll need a puller to remove the harmonic balancer. After that you should be golden.

Allen

you can rent a puller at most auto parts stores. Just a deposit and then you get your money back when you bring it back.

I just wanted to shout out a thanks to you guys for your help. We don't have the tool loan program here on maui, luckily we were able to borrow a nice puller from the community college. Everything went fine in the timing belt change, thanks to y'all and a little help from a car friend.:yahoo::icon_cheers:
