in my experience a good way to find an exhaust leak if there is one present is to start the motor, have someone give it some gas while you lay under it. its gonna be loud under there, but if you wear some heavy glvoes (so you dont burn yourself) and just grab a section at a time the noise will change because the pitch of the ratling loose part will change based on where you are grabbing, keep grabbing closer and closer and the speed of the rattling will increase....hard to describe and the noise is best detected by an experienced ear. im sure many ppl will thiink this method is dumb bc you really shouldnt be touching hot pipes, when i do this i do it after the truck has sat and wear heavy leather gloves, maybe welding gloves?
But the weird thing is this sound isnt all the time. So it being an exhaust leak seems to sound a bit iffy. Not to mention my echaust is really loud having just a 2.5" glasspack hanging on a 2" pipe lol. No pipe after it. I am going to let the truck sit a bit now since i just got home and later on go out and start it so it makes the noise again. It goes away when warmed up and after a bit of driving when its just started, so u would think it would do it all the time.
