Thornboogers

My buddy's 36x12.50r15 TSL radial did the exact same thing dishtowel.... There was a fallen log with a knot from a branch and it ripped a gaping hole just like that. If you want protection against that kinda stuff, get the SX's, the sidewalls are unbelievable. I usually run mine at 15 on the trail and they conform just fine to the terrain.

I am pretty sure that it is 33 12.50 15.

I am just amazed at how a piece of wood owned your tire. I mean tires a fawking tough! I dont see how.

Notice how it was slightly pointy and not square? I honestly think that had something to do with it. I drive over nasty squared off stuff all the time. I was unpleasantly surprised when I felt my back end go down. I think I will get a tube and run it as my spare for the remainder of this summer....

about the thornturd. I dont think I'm going to go for it. The premier club in our area requires min 34" rubber. So, SX or LTB's it is! (35" LTB baby!)

ltb coo. just addingto the SX's i had a pair they are bad ass tires nothing tuffer thats for sure. the only thing is if you air them down in the single didgets the side wall starts to crack, not all the way through but cracks, 4x4 mags have coverd this and i dont see why interco dosent fix it. owell ill be getting a nother set.

i've taken out two tires in the last couple years on branches that are still supported by the body of the tree like that

i dont have alot of pics. but if your running mostly mud you can get away with 38's and smart driving. depending on what setup i have installed cam and induction wise my 302 is 300+ hp as well. its currently detuned for economy experimenting, which is pretty much forced the conclusion it will be getting a diesel, cause the the lil fawker likes to eat pump gas no matter what if you want to drive over 60-65 mph..

currently it sits on 44 inch gateways as we run the "front holes" today in houghton lake and plan to do the rest of some sections of powerlines i was unable to do till these tires were available for me to use. i have borrowed 44 hwags before and tried out some boggers as well, but since i lowered my truck a few inches i didnt think they would fit anymore. the boggers wont but the hawgs and gates do with minimal rubbing.

this pic shows the 35's, and its from another guy. second setup like that and real nice, though the 35 ate parts like the engine eats gas. its easy and cheap to fix. parts are getting hard to find that arent half rotted though so i figured fawk it.

the 8.8 and its costs to keep going is what forced me to go with dana 60's sooner then later. of course the dana 60's let me run the 38 plus tire sizes required for mud without a sweat.

the first thing i noticed long long ago was that mud applications work best with biggest tire fitable in general as you dont have to flog it so hard. there is middle ground there ya know. thing is i get into tight stuff and prefer trails, so 35-40 inch tires are best for me with 60's.

damn 44's are just too big to use on a pickup truck for the trail types i prefer to run. i would never get full travel and they cost waaaaay way too much to replace when you tear one up.

so a light 38 swamper or some q78's like i plan to buy are a good setup for general trail use and is what i intend to run eventually.

on edit here, i want to be clear, its agreed your gonna eat more shafts with 38's, but your gonna eat shafts with 35's as well in the d35. i found that not locking the 35 or having a selectable locker greatly increased the time between fixing things...from minutes to hours...i just dont want anyone to get the idea that i think a d35 and 38 tires are a fine combination....far from it, but you can make er work pretty good if you have to, just need to use your head and have parts ready and be prepared to work on it so your not a trial plug.

i've heard of using small gauge wire on the rip, with a tube it should be o.k. for a spare

EDIT:i amost asked bobby for a pic of his truck in one of my last posts but i didn't want to hijack
