this thing wont quit

A mere 114k on an '88 2.9. Runs like a top. The 3.45 rear end worries me about smoking a clutch but - so far, so good. It's been my DD for just one year.

My friend has a 95 4.0 5 speed with under 60k and he got it for 2100, i am so jealous. Mine are pretty low too though, it only had like 130xxx and its a 96

my 92 has rolled over 3 and half times beaten on all of it lol tough as nails still just a little lifter chatter, rod noise 2 quarts of oil a week the usual stuff my biggest enemy is rust its getting pretty bad :(

my truck had about 165,xxx on the 2.9l then overheated and cracked both heads, the donor truck was showing 215,xxx when we ripped the engine out, and the damn thing still runs great, and it only goes through about half a quart of oil between changes.

I've got 302k on mine now, it's on it's second motor and 4th trans though...

143k on my old 2.9....Leaks a bit from the valve covers and has a strange issue with warm start up (either not holding fuel pressure or its flooding itself out once started) but other than that, its nice and smooth. Only use 1 qt between oil changes. Some of which probably comes out of the valve covers.

i use to have ppl try to tell me rangers are for pussys but i gotta call bs on that one cuz theyre tough as hell

Agreed. Until you have the pleasure of owning one of these little beasts, you never know what they're all about and what they're really capable of.

For the record, my '94 4x4 (w/ a 2.3 and 5-speed) is still running strong after 161,000 miles on it And I'm the 5th owner! It even still had the factory OE clutch!
