This is my thread...hear me ROAR!!!

Ok...I've cleaned the battery posts and the insides of the terminals with my dremel tool...I even cleaned off all the connections on the little relay next to the battery as well as all the connectors on it....

Bought a volt meter and when the truck was off the battery read around 13v...when i started it and was at idle at first it was reading about 13-13.3v but then ended up going up to about 14.5v and stayed pretty steady from there....but this was after I had driven the truck around town picking up all the stuff i needed.

I changed the fuel filter also.

Was wondering if someone can tell me how to test anything else that i can with the volt meter that would keep my idle as low as it is...

A fully charged battery should read about 12.6 volts. With the engine running there should be 14 volts reading at the battery posts. at night with the engine running and the headlights on read the volts and see what you have at the battery posts. The alternator should be able to keep the volts near the 14 even then. If you think the alternator isn't doing it's job take it to the parts house and they will check it for ya.

Ok...back again.

The volt meter reads just over 12v...about 12.2-12.3 with the lights on...but again...I'm only idling at 500RPM too..so this might be why.

I also checked the voltage of the TPS...the writeup I read said that the minimum voltage should be 1v...mine was reading 0.89 or 0.90

Should I replace or is this ok?

Cleaned the ground location on the engine block...no change in voltage on the gauge.

I turned in the throttle set screw...im now at around 900 RPM and with lights on the batt voltage is around 13.5

what is it supposed to idle at normally? i cant find that info on the site anywhere
