Thinking of swapping the ranger for a half ton

What yall think of this? Not much description besides runs great. Interior pic looked quite nice too. D250, 1992, 192k, v12, manual, $11k.

edit: 12v cummins

looks nice but gonna drink the gas. A cummins in that chassis would be better, except that diesel was @ $6/gallon last I knew of.

It’s diesel. 12v I meant to write… cummins.

diesel is a requirement. Manual is a close second. 4 door is greatly preferred but quite elusive.

ok, I can only imagine the fuel a V12 would go through, now that I think about it, if anything it would be a V10, not a V12.
4wd I hope, thats a lot of weight over a non-drive axle. Maybe its of no concern for your climate or useage. Here Id get stuck with it on a wet yard, front would sink and rear wouldnt get enough traction.

Pretty sure it’s 2wd. There ought to be an indicator up by the hvac controls if it were 4wd I think. You have a point there. It probably has the weight distribution of a… thing with very lopsided weight distribution.

11K for a 2wd 92 dodge 3/4 ton. The used car market is just crazy......

It is, especially diesels, milage seems to make no difference, most full size trucks Ive seen out there are over 200K. Back in the day 100K was seen as the end of service life of a vehicle, all 3 of mine are over 150K now, the newest (2011 escape) actually has the highest miles, almost 170K now.

It says 12v. I believe he was referring to it being a 12 valve engine.

I would drive that. I wouldn't pay $11K for it, But I might pay like $4K? if it wasn't rusty....

The seller could probably get very close to $4k just selling the engine and trans. Of course, it being a '92 Dodge, the rest of the truck isn't worth all that much anyway.

That's part of the problem, it's good 200K miles on it. your going to have a lot of parts that falling apart, leaking vac lines, intermittent electrical stuff, rusty floors/ fenders.
It's really only worth the engine and trans.

Nice truck, 11k is obviously a bit of money but I don't think it's completely unreasonable. Those first gens are getting to be hot collector items these days, itll haul more than most people would ever need to move, it's a diesel, and looks wicked clean.

$4k won't get you a decent Ranger of that vintage currently. $11k is asking price, there should be a little negotiation (the trick is not to go too low and offend the seller).

When did Dodge re-design the Trucks (94?). I cant believe that prehistoric design even made it into the 90's. Looks like a early 70's model to me.

20 years difference and not much changed.
