has anybody done megasquirt on an A4LD/2.9 combo before?

i want to do this, so if/when i get the 4.0 installed i can keep the same ECU anyway and i won't have to do a crapload of harness splicing. (among other things)

not exactly sure what megasquirt is.
Why do I bother to contribute, then?
Because megasquirt sounds like a porno. Just thought you oughta know.:icon_rofl:

megasquirt is an aftermarket ECU, replaces the stock computer with a 100% custom tunable one.

It's an ecu that can control spark, nitrous, turbo setups, anything you can care to program really. You can also get it in a DIY kit where you literally solder the computer together... It's pretty awesome, and is the best 'cheap' engine management out there.

any ecu management is not for the faint of heart, my recommendation is research everything you can on the web, then find your self a shop with a good dyno, and then get in good with the owner, because it takes a lot of dyno time to fine tune the system.
this kind of system is for people that upgrade the fuel system, intake system on some engines(those without MAF sensor) or when adding any kind of forced induction.if you are serious about this hit me up in a pm and ill go over the basics with you, and a few tip and tricks. although im not familiar with megasquart. i am very educated with systems called chrom. and hondata

I have used megasquirt before in school, but it was for fuel injecting a 3.5 hp engine. megasquirt has a really good auto tune, but you need a really good O2 sensor. I had thought of doing it myself, but with a 4.6 and a manual. An important thing to look into is that it's not emissions legal. So if you are in a state that does emissions, I don't think it will fly. If you are trying to use mega squirt to get out of messing with a harness, I don't think this is your solution. If you want a fun project to tinker with, then this might be right for you.

truck is 24 years old and doesn't even have cats, emissions are not a concern.
