ima thinkin bout removing my muffler on my 2002 2.3l b-series. i want to cut it and put an elbow out to the side right after the resonater... would this sound good??? or would it sound like a stupid ricer? what are your opinoins? flowmaster? glasspack? muffler delete? or just leave it stock? :icon_confused:

Please at least run a muffler.

Otherwise, it'll sound like a truck who's muffler fell off, loud and awful. The connector on my '97 4 banger just rusted in half and it's dumping straight out of the cat. The pipe is completely disconnected. It sounds terrible.

yeah, dont do that. i think it would sound awful and your neighbors will hate you

Legally, you need a muffler on to pass inspection.

Realistically, it's going to sound horrible without a muffler.

Honestly, if you want it louder, use a Flowmaster 40 series.

It's not a V8, so you don't want to hear it any more than you do right now.

It's going to sound like crap. When I bought my '92 with the 2.9, I had to drive it home 40 miles from point of purchase with no muffler. It's a wonder I didn't get a ticket in every town I went through. Put a CherryBomb on it, but that didn't help much. County Sheriff took offense at that, but only got a warning. Running a stock muffler from NAPA right now, but no tailpipe.

Don't run without any sound-suppression.

Cherry Bomb 'Oval' muffler (Turbo 2 I think they are called)

$20-40 from your local auto parts store, can be installed with Clamps, doesn't sound horrid, makes it a spec louder. I had it on my 2.5 when my muffler rotted out.

i had to drive my b2 from my brothers old house to our new house back in march. all i had on it was the headers and it was loud and obnoxious as all get out. it sounded like a mixture of a tank and nascar engine running. accelerating was really loud. i waited til it was late to do it so the po-leece didnt try to get me. stuck to the back roads and made it without incident. that's the only time i'd run with out a muffler, when i absolutely had to.

x2 on that. i got a cherrybomb high flow muffler when i worked at autozone. it was $17.99 regularly, but i got it for $14.xx with my discount. that's all you need.

I'm toying with the idea of adding the CherryBomb glasspack I replaced with the NAPA muffler to the system, then getting a tailpipe to complete it. I'd like it a bit quieter yet, than it is now.

For the record, running with sound-suppression doesn't mean you aren't still breaking the law...

My truck is a blown/cammed 302, 2.5 off the collectors into 3 inch Y, into a 1 in 2 out Flowmaster 40, out the side... No-Nonsense loud, still haven't gotten a ticket, but counting the days.........

I know some Honda boys that my friend knows got pulled over for an obnoxious fart pipe. Honda boy asked the cop why Mustangs can be loud and not get pulled over. The cop told him "because Mustangs are supposed to be loud".

So around here at least, the V8's are given some slack. The 4 cylinders sound like ass, and the cops know that it's obnoxious. I guess some things really do turn out like they are supposed to.

I think sleeper status saves me from getting plastered with tickets...

Get a Aero Turbine best sounding muffler IMO.

I'm running one of those. Sounds great but hey're as loud as hell, especially up in the high rpm's it sounds like a racecar haha.

And I probably gained 50 horsepower after installing it :icon_rofl:
