I need to replace my thermostat housing on a 91 ranger 2.3l . All the housings I see online are for 92 up. They look really similar . Anyone used the 92 on an earlier model and what is the difference?

I just compared my 89 to my 95 the newer one has a provision for a temperature sender in the heater core line, the older ones do not. Seems like newer one would work if you plugged that hole.

I’m doing the Volvo fan swap so that would work.

I think it's just the heater/bypass hose position to go around the coil pack on the older ones that got moved on later models...

The heater core bypass tube is longer on the later unit.
