Thermactor question, Not egr question.

The air pump's part of the FUBAR thermactor system. I'd hate to add more to the already polluted air. I wonder I if could leave the air pump in place, and just pipe it straight to the cat. Wonder what kind of affect that would have on my cat.

Well it pumps air at all times and I think the emissions systems told that valve when to open and let air in the CAT. I heard some guys hooked the system up so that it pumped air non stop into the CAT to allow them to pass emissions. I cant see it hurting you to hook it up directly to your CAT unless the rest of the stuff was there to help the pump fight off exhaust pressure.

Everything in the smog system needs everything else; otherwise it goes into a "limp home' mode or just doesn't run right. That's why the DuraSpark is so popular.
Your carb may just have a poorly installed float. they sometimes hang up on the sides of the carb and cause flooding. Whenever installing the carb gaskets, I coat them with Chapstick - the wax keeps the gasket from sticking next time you remove it.

You know, I read about the chapstick thing on here in another thread. Must have been one of your posts. thanks for the tip.
