the slo-vo build thread...

yea just had to break the bead on one side pour them in and air back up.

the bb's work pretty good, i had about 5oz worth in each tire when i mounted them but still had a good shimmy at 45-47 mph...havent got much of a test drive yet but it felt pretty good

Didn't think of that....but I'm sure I would fab some type of funnel...
SVT

How do they balance out?? Does it work at al speeds??
SVT

they do pretty good, i havent had a set of tires balnced in the last few years...for as rough and uneven wear these tires have and they are pretty damn smooth at 70 and that was before i added more

welp finally did the valve cover gaskets, wasnt too bad at all. she got new plugs wires and the oil will be changed tomorrow

didnt take many pictures.

you use cork or rubber gaskets? i've had really bad luck w/ the cork...

felpro rubber, wouldnt use cork if it was free. never had good luck with it.

alright.. cork is just what's always in the motor kits (which is the only times i've changed mine; building the motor for the swap and then when i put the full engine gasket set on).. i'm getting some rubber ones tomorrow i think..

i think it was $32 for the rubber felpro's, its worth the money over fixing the corks a few times when they start leaking again.

got the truck running right after the vc swap, in other words i got the firing order right i obviously cant count to 6 :thefinger:

also moved my cb whip to the rear and while i was at it i ran a new piece of coax since mine had got rubbed pretty good under the truck and picked up a wilson 4ft tuneable fibreglass whip

this weekend im going to tackle a few exhaust leaks that ive been listening to for a while

Nice. How's your SWR at that location? I wanted the shortest whip, and mounted as low as possible. I think I ended up with a 3' firestik mounted inside my driver side bedside. Sticks about 10" above my cab. SWR is barely safe over the whole range. If I know we'll be using a certain channel during a trip, I'll tune around that channel.

i dont have a good swr unit, but the cobra has one built in. i dont know how good it is but it says its under 1.0 so it doesnt get much better. havent really got to test it out but i was picking up quite a bit of trucker talk.

i should have got the 3 footer, but oh well it should stand up to the tree's pretty good

Put a spring on it! I was stubborn, and didn't want to get one. Finally gave it, got one, and it will definitely save your whip. Now I just gotta worry about ripping the damn cap off all the time :annoyed:

thats what i should have done...3ftr and a spring. but the guy at the cb shop is one of those old guys that follows you around asking a million questions when all you wanna do is look so i grabbed it and ran. well after i paid lol

i may end up with one, ill just have to see how it does back there
