the rarely seen 27k mile GT......

didnt the GT's all come with 4.10's? i seem to remember noting that as the only "performance" feature.

thats one thing that disappoints me a little on the ranger GT's: no perfomance difference. im not even asking for a lot, 10-15 HP over the regular 2.9's would have been enough to really earn that GT badge.

no. actually, shortbeds were stock with 3.73s, and longbeds had 3.45s...dont ask me why, lol....:icon_confused:. 4.10s were optional as well as trac loc diff.

more hp would have been great, but remember this was the mid/late 80s...they were building hp in cars, dealing with forthcoming airbags and were competing with chevy to get the GT to market before the Cameo and take advantage of the "california styling" the youth were buying at the time. :icon_idea: "......awwww, its got plenty of power, just put the gfx on it, no decals, give it some bucket seats and let the rest be standard Ranger......" lol

I think whitey would look good with and STX grill painted white.

And yes I am in love with all the GT's no matter what year. Makes em special!

that truck is mint it looks like its never been sat in and this is coming from a guy with ocd beaautiful truck

maybe rushing the truck to market was part of the problem, but i doubt it was an availability thing. the escort GT of the year comes to mind. it got 20HP over the LX with the same engine with little more than basic tuning items (header, more aggressive cam, PCM tune). thats all it would have taken to give the 2.9 "HO" the edge over grandmas 2.9 grocery getter :D

of coarse there was the 220hp ranger SHO concept which had a GT body...talk about bragging rights...:shok:

And here is how she sits now. Still only 27k on her. Bought her off the poster a few months ago and got her running, all tuned up, new tires and on the road after a long hibernation. She will not be a daily driver and will be kept as pristine as possible. Any modifications I make are not permanent and anything removed is saved. So far I added a tonneau cover (no drill), bluetooth radio (no cut or drill) and a new resonated exhaust tip to tone down the Flowmaster that was placed on it in the past. It was also treated to a full motorcraft tuneup with all original parts being boxed and saved. Besides a good compound and polish this is how she will stay.

Thanks for posting! This made my day, seeing that this survivor still lives in good health, and is well cared for.

Beautiful truck. It is always nice to keep them in as close to new as possible shape.

Beautiful truck, except the wheels. I think I like the Enkie look better. The two different whites ticks my OCD into OD.
I have these on my Ranger and I think they look decent. Those Enkie's in the OP looked better IMHO.

I hear you about the shades of white. Doesn’t bother me too much but I also just put new tires on them so for now they stay. I did ask about the Enkie wheels but he had sold them a while ago. I would love to find a nice clean set.

Thats a damn gorgeous hunk of metal man!!! One of my dozen or so dream cars from high school in the mid 90’s! Keep her clean and mean good sir!

I LOVE it...an 11 year old thread resurrection where we're all older but the vehicle stayed the same!

In fact, it's not a vehicle....it's a showpiece.

That truck of your is a "smiler". It even makes non-car people smile.

Put a COVID filter on the air intake.

Well a little over a year since I chimed in. Truck has 29k on it now and I added some new mesh bbs style wheels. She’s resting comfortably in my garage!

Still looking good! The new wheels are nice. Keep taking good care of that truck, and thanks for the update.
