The Ranger Station official gas price monitor- how much did you pay for a gallon?

It's ashamed us working stiffs couldn't all get together for a week & NOT buy gasoline/and do it once a month.....not that it'd make much of a difference... :icon_bounceblue:[/QUOTE]

It's called apathy DG. We as a nation do what our government, bosses and other talking heads say. Some of us complain but until there is a mass consciousness and taking responsibility for how and what our nation(s) do we will just have to accept the root up the ass we get. There is more oil in the Rockies and in Canada than in the middle east. But because we accept what the open market and the oil companies give us nothing will change.

The best action to take is what has worked somewhat in the past. Don't drive if you don't have to. Only use gas when necessary. If we buy less it drives the market down.

$4.09 for diesel in my F350

Hey, Bro. We already have a post on this (several in fact). I guess there is nothing we can do about gas prices unless all Americans rise up an protest it at the same time. We need to take back ourt country and set an example to these oil mongers who are making huge profits once again.........

Stray, you are missing out on one key fact. Its the open market that is driving prices up.
Instability in the regions of the world where oil comes from (Granted, Libya is like 0.5% of OPEC production) causes people to get worried about the availability of oil. Neither USA nor Canada are part of OPEC, and sadly those dirty bastards control like 95% of the worlds oil production.

The presidents and CEOs of Texaco and Exxon and whatever are douche bags too, dont get me wrong... But they are not the ultimate evil in this equation, OPEC and the free market are mostly to blame.

This. We need to put a stop to the speculators. The only people that need to be buying and selling commodities of any kind are theproducers and refiners. Not asshole traders on wall st.

lol....I only WISH prices were that low here!!

Right after the major part of the recession was over, gas prices jumped up to 1.32/litre. Which roughly works out to $5/gallon. ROUGHLY.

So even at your 4.39/gallon...that works out to 1.15/Litre which is(ballpark) what we've been paying for years now in the great white north.

EDIT:

My theory on the prices going up is as follows....

-People who are on a "save the planet" craze are pushing small fuel efficient cars.

-The sheep(society) buys into this crap and more and more are buying small fuel efficient cars.

-Mr. Oil Company exec. notices decline in profits due to so many people buying said cars that go further on a tank.

-Mr. Oil Company exec. starts jacking up prices to make up for "loss" of profits due to so many smaller cars.

I'm sure this is what STARTED it...but in true greedy corporate fashion, even if we were to all buy hummers and suck up the gas, the price wouldn't come back down now anyway.

This same principal applies to home utilities too....from gas to electrical to water.

Bottom line is that GREED, and lots of it, is what's causing this mess. PERIOD.

3.78 a gallon today. i buy gass from a station that rewards you for paying in cash also by making it 5 cents cheaper

couple more things 99 EB Explorer to add to your list
1. the price of commodities are tied to the value of the dollar...if the government print cash like it is going out of style the price of gold, silver, oil, and so forth goes up.
2. the chinese have the worlds largest growing middle class (not the largest...yet) and all of those people want cars.
