The New Plan:

That's right, they replaced the real meaning of 4x4 with AWD, alright, AWD=bad 4x4=good.

Yeah:

4x4, v6, power, good on gas, easy to modify, durable, easy and cheap to fix

What should I go with? an extended or a single?

I will hit you with a 2x4 and make you understand my reasoning!!!!! RAHHHHH lol:icon_twisted:

:thefinger: :icon_twisted:

And @ Ranger Kip:

Don't get a 4.0 if you want mileage... especially not in an auto...

The 3.0 is decent on mileage... but if you really want mileage get a 4 banger, and a manual...

And I recommend an extended cab, but only if it has 4 doors...

Any of these trucks are great IF it was taken well of. Find a truck that has been cared for. You WILL know it when you find it, usually the interiors are in excellent shape.

the back of an extended cab is a glorified toolbox. no fit place for an adult.

if its just you, going to school, get a regular cab. they're cheaper, and you can get a locking cover for the bed, for your stuff. or some tool boxes. i strap one of those ugly "car top" carriers in the bed of my truck when i travel. cheap (garage sale find) and easy to take out when you don't need it.

btw, don't leave out the explorer sport. 2 doors, fits 4 comfortably, or you can fold down the seats and haul stuff. i've hauled a rear axle, hay bales, and a transmission in my old one.

yeah, the one for 400 was taken care of >.> but cannot get it..... =P

anyways, so I guess it is a 93-94 Ford Ranger Supercab or Single Cab 4x4 with a 3.0L 5-speed manual transmission?

I cannot drive standard very well, but I am able to non-the-less. I just hate starting my truck up on hills if the truck is facing towards the top of the hill.

And as for the exploder, I could go for one, if it was available cheap, but I heard they were bad on gas.

Uhm, another note on the ranger, I wanted to know if I should get a cap or not. Whats the advantage or disdvantage?

Practice makes better with the clutch. Better to learn now before they're extict. I know I sucked when I was first starting to drive, it took me a while to get it down.

A trick on hills to use, but may be frowned upon by many, is to let out the clutch a tiny bit with your foot still on the brake holding the vehicle. Then while transfering your right foot to the accelerator the clutch and engine hold the vehicle from rolling back.

I like the Fiberglass caps, mine has racks, I can strap on a ladder.

I like the caps with racks.:icon_rofl:

It provides a somewhat secure place to store stuff, and If I needed to haul something like a ATV, I would get a trailer.

a manual trans will give u less trouble on maintenance. and with practice ull learn to use it on uphills or whatever.
i went from auto to a manual(i already knew how to drive a manual), and i got used to it pretty fast.

i think some 4x4 91-92 rangers had the 3.0? maybe that way u can get the old body style u like so much and put a 88 or older front clip on it. there u have your converted to old truck lol

Looky what dad got for free at work =D
It is brand new, he is project manager, and the tools they ordered were industrial, well, they did not need a home-use one, so dad took it home! (also, he brought home 2 factory light bars for the shop, pictures next week!)
