Tore apart my bronco to get the cluster to throw in a volt gauge where the ammeter goes and discovered that I do indeed have an XL that's been rigged and beat into a strange XLT hybrid. Anyway, as I was pulling my cluster off, I noticed a strange bulb housing taped to the factory harness that I don't believe is in any wiring diagrams. Anyone know what it is or what it does? If it's a shift light I'd love to have that over the emiss light lol.

I see a yellow/black wire. What is the other wire color? Is this the 1987?

I think he may be talking about the black lampholder on the right side, taped to the harness. Looks like 2 red wires. Probably a tracer on at least one of them. But photo is too blurry for me.

That is correct, the lamp holder on the right that's taped. This is an 85 built 01/85 so basically an 84. They are two red wires. Nothing else on them I believe.

The EVTM shows a shift light, tagged "manual transmission only 2.3L", that has is wired with Red / Yel dots, and Red / Wht dots. That's likely what you're looking at, even though (in theory) a B2 didn't get the 2.3.

Looks like your truck also has the light out monitor, in the console. That will add a few wrinkles in the lighting harness, versus a truck that doesn't have the monitor.

I've also got this strange rear wiper that nobody else seems to have (anymore), how do I get a refill while I wait on another arm to pop up?

Your BII reminds me of my 1993 Grand Cherokee. There were a lot of mysteries that were clearly from the factory that the forums couldn't help but insist I had a parts bin build. I had stuff from the XJ/MJ and even the SJ in the thing. Hey, if it can happen there, it can happen anywhere I guess.

I understand it can be irritating, and replacing the parts or working on them could be made more tricky in a sense, but in another sense, it makes for good conversation with the few that truly appreciate your ride.
