The Mustang (WARNING, HUGE PICS)

Good start on a good project, really suprised at how many Ranger owners have Mustangs also. Thoes numbers you think are the date code
The date read E0AE,
are just the casting number of the block and should be followed by a dash and the numbers 6015 and a letter, the date is cast in just above them. The number you posted shows that it is an '80' block.
I reccomend getting any of a couple of good reference books on the small block Ford.

did the fmx come in the mustang?i thought it was in later stangs.either way ditch that bitch for an overdrive tranny so you can run better rear gears than the 2.80's or 2.79's it likely came with.:stirthepot:

before you drop the motor in you should weld in trans am/boss 302 style shock tower reinforcement brackets like pro motorsports engineering sells to help hold alignment and prevent the upper a-arms from pushing through the shock towers:shok:.i'm going to make some since they are simple bent plates

Ha i wish that was her mustangs, its actually a freinds dads. And it is a clone. But a very nice one at that. Thanks for all the comments guys, and your motors look awesome too. That FMX wasnt original, when my dad but the car, the guy had a 351 in it with that fmx behind it and im pretty sure it has a 9" rearend. I Think FMXs started in mustangs in 68 or 69. Yes i do plan to paint it one day, and clean up and rechrome whatever needs it. I found some brand new bumpers for 75 bucks that will be nice. The hood needs replaced, but it has a 70 mach 1 scoop on it, and i think im gonna carry that over to the next hood i get because i think it looks awesome.

im pretty sure it has a 9" rearend.
the pinion on the 9" hangs down so you can't get a wratchet and extension on one or two of the bolts at the bottom of the pinion cap or whatever its called.you have to use a wrench.the 8 inch pinion doesn't hang down as far

Stock almost looking for my '66' Ranchero, the original Mini-Truck

Sorry I wasn't looking for mistakes, I was really impressed with the dual quads, and she looks real nice, the coolant just caught my eye some how. I personally love windsor motors, I have one in my cougar and one sitting the back yard waiting for a cool project I'm thinking stroked 351 in a 66 mgb with a c4. but that is a ways down the road.
but at this time i'm trying to find a write up on a 5.4l in a 96 stang, any info would be great.

yeah i got a dual quad intake from a family friend for free, he was gonna use it on his falcon, sold it, and gave me the intake. Someday if i get a cam or something i might rebuild the carbs and throw it on there. Or just for fun.

no prob odie............i got the monday afternoon, fed up with old guy wanting to test their battery because its almost out of warrenty, working at the battery store blues..........lol.

94.i sent you a pm about the rockers. the dist. and coil is the one in the pic that price is with wires.

Hey thanks for the offer on the dist and all, but i already have everything ready to go. THe only trouble i really ran into was stabbing the dist in. i can get it down in there on the cam gear but i think that the oil pump shaft is getting into the dist. I tried rotating the crank some but still nothing, any ideas?

Damn you people for posting these pics. I seriously need to find a 302 block and start building it immediately.
