I could take it or leave it, my boss/director of training (Former Army Ranger, Security Contractor, and all around badass, 14 tours) seems to like them.
jester, you may be a good source of info for this. if one assembles their own upper with all milspec parts, is headspace an issue? i've seen videos where the headspace was checked when the barrel extension was installed at the manufacturer. i ask b/c i assembled mine, but i havent had it checked.
got a new shotty today. 12 gauge 870 in pretty bad shape finish wise. mechanically everything is fine. not sure what i plan on doing with it. couldnt really complain though, got it for $60.
the mag extension is for sale if anyone wants it. it's long as hell as you can tell. it holds +5 over the factory mag. it's brand new as you can tell in the pic.
i'm def putting a new stock on it, the wood one is extremely worn. i'm gonna see if remington will tell me how old it is. i need to figure out what duracoat colors i have left so i can figure out what color to paint it. i dont want to have to buy more, but i guess i will if i have to.
i already have a mossberg 500 for HD. there's a pic of it in this thread somewhere. i think i might fix this one up and sell it. i was thinking of doing a HD build. put a shorter barrel on it and get a shorter mag extension and of course new furniture.
well, i went ahead and decided what to do with it tonight lol. picture it with all the metal painted olive drab and a black stock thanks to mn_smokeater
chopped down the mag tube about 7" and welded the cap back on. thankfully it was made out of steel. just need to cut down the spring next.
cut the barrel down to 18", i might remove the vent rib, might not...we'll see. should have it assembled next week.
