The gun thread...

heard lots of good stuff about the 6.5.....i know a few guys on a remington forum that have 700's chambered in it. they shoot in matches with it and love it.

i'd keep that one and start with a new rifle. you can never have too many

thinking about picking up a .30-30 this weekend.

I love my Marlin 336c. No scope. Fiber optic high visibility sights.perfect gun for hunting in the woods. I use a scoped 30-06 in open fields or bigger areas. I've killed deer at 200 yards with my 30-30 so.. It'll take care of you.

was thinking of a winchester 94 clone.

i can't tell you anything about those. never dealt w/ them.

my dad's got an 1894, made in 1945

real solid, shoots straight.

the over the shoulder shell ejection makes me feel like i'm in a western movie.

My dad has one too, old enough to be pre-safety and top eject.

It looks new because throwing the gun is probably more accurate that shooting it, he knew about it up front and traded a pair of tires for it to say he had one. :D

I have a new 336C, if you go that route be really picky... Remington hasn't been kind to the brand. If I had to do it again I would have probably gotten the Mossberg because the odds are better at getting a good one (which I was lucky to) I am wanting to get a peep sight for for mine though, to be different instead of a scope. I am not sure what the deal is but anymore my eyes focus on the either the rear sight or the target...

i've got the same exact shotgun, i got rid of the bluing though. it's my zombie killer plus home defense gun. just added a bright ass led light to it....it's getting a pistol grip next i think

Joys of the Savage platform, takes all of 5 minutes to re-barrel and set the headspace.:D

Nice gun, I keep mine full of OO buckshot and ready to rock. What kind of paint/rail to you have for the light up front? I have been looking for something simple to use along side a mossy heat shield on mine.

the paint is duracoat, british DPM green (still not sure how i feel about the color, but it's different). i hate bluing so i got rid of it right after i bought it. you can put your hands all over the duracoat and not worry about fingerprints.

the rail for the light is something i found at cheaper than dirt. if you look under the mossberg 500 accessories, you'll see it. i think it was $20. i got the light from SWFA for $30. it's not a surefire, but it's plenty bright for my needs.

i want to get a heat sheild as well, the barrel is so thin, it's damn hot after 5 or 6 shots.

you can barely see it, but i've got a tritium front sight on it as well. works awesome at night.

I have a S&W Sigma 9mm

I am currently looking for a .40 cal. I am looking at Springfield, S&W and Taurus mainly.

How do you like it?

I have been pondering shutting up the toy gun commenters and supplimenting my 20ga 500 Bantam with a 12ga like you pictured but with wood and a red dot scope for hunting deer. I am pretty good at busting rock with the 20 and I probably won't get enough out of it to buy a barrel.

That and it was my first gun and they don't make them like it anymore that I have seen. Really pretty wood, engraved receiver, gold trigger... had it since '96 when I was 12 and despite being drug through the woods in search of deer every winter it still looks new. :icon_bounceblue:

how do you like that sigma? the sigma's are one pistol i've not shot in my quest to find the perfect carry pistol for me.. so far its looking like a springfield .xd subcompact .40 or compact .45
