(I swear, the next person I hear say "Nos", I'm punching them in the face, Its Nitrous Oxide, how hard is that to say?)

NOS refers to Nitrous Oxide Systems, a company that manufactures Nitrous kits, just like Zex and all that. I'm guessing any Nitrous system got the nickname NOS just because Nitrous Oxide Systems is the foremost in nitrous systems. Unless some morons saw NO2 which is the chemical compound for nitrous and thought it read NOS? My bets on N.O.S. just taking the namesake for the whole kit and caboodle.
