Just bought my 5th Ranger. A 1997 2.3 manual this time. It is a bit worn, but shocks, oil/filter, clutch, and tune up this weekend. Yeah for me. Oh, located in San Antonio and normally a BMW Motorrad Tech, but on orders for a year at Ft Hood.

Sounds good, but take a detour to Lackland AFB auto craft shop. Clutch, trans/diff fluid, shocks, plugs, wires, distributor, oil/filter, and Hella 500's hopefully all going on Friday and Saturday. Secondly, this truck has unknown number of miles on it. Odometer worm gear broke. Steering is loose and kinda all over the place. Should I be looking at tie rod ends or other components?

Check tie rod ends for play and sway bar links and bushings.
That is what I was thinking, but it helps to ask the subject matter experts here. Thank you. I normally only work on motorcycles!! Luckily a BMW airhead/oilhead clutch replacement is nearly the same as the truck.
