The best mud terrain?

I am looking to get a set of 31s and i don't know what i should go with? The tires will be almost off raod only use, but in the rainy season i'll probably leave them on. But regardless i want a set of mud tires with a decent agressive tread. I have the option to get a set of swampers for a decent price but i don't want to be able to use them only off the street.

If you want a mud terrain radial go for the new Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar.

You don't wanna leave them on in rainy season... Mud tires are very good at Hydroplaning...

Super swampers are fun! my friend has a set on his jeep, i love watching them throw fist sized clumps of mud 30ft high... im picking up a set of used ones today! the only thing is, they arent the best on road, and they wear like hot butter.

Toyo MT would get my vote. They are expensive though.

I run Mud Claws, they seem to do great in the snow and ice, fairly cheap also..

Do they even come in a 31 though? I checked at the tire place by my house and they didn't have them but i can call around i guess.But I wayched the vid on those kevlar ones and look pretty mean.

My tsl's have been wearing pretty well, they dont look hardly different from the day I bought them used, except for all of the little cuts in the nobs but thats from my fenders

I do this:

1st Choice: Toyo M/T's (expensive, if metric: stiff sidewalls)
2nd Choice: Goodyear Kevlars (Less expensive than Toyo, strong tire, aggressive pattern)
3rd Choice: BFG M/T's


I'll probably go with BFG for me when I get new tires due to them having a 33x10.5 tire (Toyo does too but its a metric size and has more plys, thus stiffer ride)

BFG is hard to beat for their price. Goodyear Wranglers and Toyos are great too if you have a little more money to work with.

I would normally suggest swampers but since your are gonna run 31's I didn't....IMHO swampers should be at least 35"

I'm leaning toward a set of Goodyear MT/R Ks myself. BFGs are good too, though hard wheeling in rocks has sure taken it's toll on mine (severe tread chunking).

You don't wanna leave them on in rainy season... Mud tires are very good at Hydroplaning...

Mud tires might not grip wet pavement well (especially if not siped), but typically having an extremely high void ratio, they are very resistant to hydroplaning unless they are well worn.

If you want a mud tire you really can't beat the Super Swamper tsl, bias tsl and radial tsl both get high marks in almost all categories.

The Procomp X terrain and Mickey Thompson Baja Claw do very well too, but seem to suffer a bit on lateral traction, they tend to slide sideways on side slopes. STAY AWAY from the Procomp extreme mud terrain, they really do suck in the mud compared to all I have listed and they're loud for what they are..

Next are the new Goodyear mt and BFG km2, they do pretty good in the mud and excel on most terrain.

Not many other mud terrains can stack up against the ones I listed and I have used many many mudders over the years and wheel with a wide variety of people using a wide variety of mud tires, this is my take on it anyways.

Agreed I just like the look of the kevlars they just say let's wheel!haha but i want a set of bfg's because they are an all around good tire
