i have a 99 3.0 ranger that lost spark. i was wondering if it was the coil pack. How do you test them??? It started mis firing then it wouldnt start.
Thanks.

The primary side has four pins.....one pin is common to each of the other three, and if the common pin is identified, the ohm reading from it to each of the other pins should be the same.

It's doubtful the coil failed all the cylinders at once, but if it did, it should be the common connection on the primary side. The secondary side has nothing in common IIRC.

It's much more likely to be something else....and you may save money getting a diagnostic from a good dealership, compared to throwing parts at it. good luck.

all cylinders didnt fail at once....it started missing...then got worse and worse until it wouldnt start again....over a 2 day period...sorry that i didnt explain that well enough
And what is a IIRC????

IIRC= If I Recall Correctly. Usually means relying on memory.
